UA local research

We read UA locals' public websites and document what they say about their apprenticeship aptitude test and the study materials they recommend. No third-party sources, no guessing, no claims beyond what a local has published themselves.

This page is the summary. Every row links to a detailed transparency page for that local.

publicly recommend study materials

Most recent research: 2026-04-15. Sources are direct links to each local's website.

How we research each local

  1. Start at the local's official website. Not a third-party directory, not a study-prep site — the local union's own domain.
  2. Follow the apprenticeship / training links. Look for application pages, training-center pages, and any linked PDFs.
  3. Capture direct quotes. If the local describes their test format publicly, we quote it word-for-word with a link to the source page or PDF.
  4. List recommended materials. If the local suggests specific books, sample PDFs, or tutoring resources, we list them with the local's own description and a link.
  5. Record what's NOT public. If a local doesn't publish their test format or recommend materials, we say so explicitly rather than filling in with speculation.
  6. Date-stamp the research. Every entry has a date. Locals update their requirements; treat older dates as worth re-verifying with the JATC.

What we don't do

  • We don't claim to know what's on any local's test beyond what they publish. If a local doesn't publicly describe their test, we say so — we don't fill in the gap with guesses.
  • We don't promise our library matches any local's format. Our library covers the skill areas UA aptitude tests commonly assess. Whether that maps exactly to your local's test is something only your JATC can confirm.
  • We don't sell local-specific guarantees. No pass guarantees, no tier-locked "UA Local X-specific prep" upcharges. Same library, same price, regardless of where you're applying.
